iMedNet is a smaller SaaS EDC marketed for teams that build their own studies; Rave is an enterprise system common at large sponsors and CROs. This page compares the buying models and adds a third option to test the same way.

The short version
Two models
iMedNet's own history stresses configurability by the study team. A vendor of that size can mean direct access to people who know your account, and also means a smaller user community, fewer third-party builders and more dependence on one company. Ask for a reference customer with a study like yours and for the vendor's plan for continuity and support.
Rave's ecosystem is the reverse. There are many experienced Rave builders and data managers, and many CROs standardise on it, which is useful if your CRO insists. The trade-off for a small study is process weight: specialist builders, formal change control and enterprise contracting.

Evaluation
Send the same list to every vendor and keep the answers in writing.
| Topic | Question | What Capture offers for comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Build | Who builds our eCRFs and how long from final protocol to a testable study? | You build it. The AI study builder drafts visits and forms from an uploaded protocol; nothing saves without human review. |
| Amendments | What happens when the protocol is amended, and what does it cost? | Forms move from draft to approved; approved forms are locked for live use. |
| Modules | Which of ePRO, consent, randomization and supply are native, and which are partner services? | EDC, ePRO, eConsent and configurable randomization share one study and one audit trail. No supply management claim. |
| Data cleaning | How are edit checks, queries and SDV configured? | Edit checks raise auto-queries; SDV is set per field. |
| Exports | What do we receive at lock and exit: data, dictionary, audit trail, SDTM? | CSV/Excel with data dictionary; audit trail; SDTM as SAS XPT with Define-XML. |
| Validation | What validation documentation is supplied? | Enterprise customers receive documentation to support sponsor validation and UAT. |
| Support | What support is included and who answers? | Email support, typically under 24 hours; documentation and tutorials. |
| Total cost | What are all charges over 24 months for our enrolment? | Core from $1,000/month with one live study plus $50 per participant per month; see the pricing page for current terms. |
Capture rows are from the Capture pricing page and product pages. Vendor columns are deliberately blank: ask iMedNet and Medidata directly.
Upload your protocol to the free sandbox, review the AI draft, and time how long a testable study takes. No card, no time limit.
Hands-on test
Take one real visit with vitals, an ECG interval and an adverse event, and ask each vendor, or your own team, to build it with a range check and a calculated field. Count people, days and open questions. This is a demo-data example of the ECG form in Capture.

Decision aid
Rave is the comparator; ask what changes if you bring the study in-house.
Test iMedNet and a lean option on the same visit and ask for a similar reference.
Ask for amendment turnaround and price in writing from all three.
Weight self-serve build and sandbox access heavily.
Check site count, support hours and validation documents, then test Capture's Phase 3 controls.
Switching
See how to migrate from Medidata Rave and how to switch EDC vendors mid-study. For cost structure see the EDC software pricing guide and the EDC cost calculator. A related pairing: Castor vs Medidata Rave.
Neither wins in general. Rave is built for large programmes with specialist builders; iMedNet is marketed to teams that build their own studies. Test both with the same visit and a written scenario.
We do not quote either vendor's pricing because we cannot verify it. Ask both to price the same enrolment, sites and modules, and compare the 24-month total.
MedNet Solutions, based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, according to company releases and profiles. Confirm the current company name and address directly.
Medidata is a subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes, as its own press releases state.
Because a self-serve option with a free sandbox is quick to test. Capture combines EDC, ePRO, eConsent and randomization in one audit trail and publishes its pricing.
Yes. Capture supports Phase 1 through Phase 3, including SDV per field, freeze and lock, blinded roles and multi-site filtering.
Send identical written questions to every vendor, build one real visit with an edit check and a calculated field in each, and compare people involved, elapsed time and 24-month cost.
