DACIMA Software, based in Montreal, sells Dacima Clinical Suite, a web-based EDC and data management platform. This page stays with what public listings say, flags what you must verify with the vendor, and shows where a self-serve platform fits and where staying put is the right call.

What to know first
The vendor
Third-party directories list DACIMA Software as a Montreal company, with the platform described as web-based, proprietary and cloud-hosted, and support listed by email, phone and around the clock. Descriptions say it combines electronic data capture, medical data management and clinical trial management in one platform, with interactive dashboards, a form library aligned with CDISC and reporting. It is also described as used for epidemiological studies, web randomisation, ePRO, surveys and patient registers. A reviewer on one directory calls it 21 CFR Part 11 compliant. Public ratings are few, so they are thin evidence either way.
Everything in that paragraph is listing-derived. Verify each point through a demo and the vendor's documentation, and treat a vendor's claim about its own compliance as the start of your qualification, not the end. A Part 11 claim of any vendor, Capture included, is shared with the sponsor's own validated use. See the 21 CFR Part 11 compliance checklist for what to verify regardless of who you choose.
Decision matrix
The Dacima column shows the question, not an answer. Fill it from the vendor's own reply.
| Question | Ask DACIMA | Capture's answer |
|---|---|---|
| Can we test the full system before a sales call? | Ask about trial or sandbox access. | Yes: free sandbox, every feature, no credit card, no time limit. |
| Who builds and amends the forms? | Ask whether the study team can edit, or the vendor builds. | Your team, with an AI study builder that drafts from a protocol for human review. The pricing page also lists setup by the Capture team at $0 on Core. |
| How is it priced? | Ask for a written quote and change-order rate card. | Core: $1,000/month incl. one live study + $50 per participant per month. Full Platform: $5,000/month per live study + $30. Enterprise custom. |
| Are ePRO, eConsent and randomisation included? | Confirm each module and whether it is a separate licence. | EDC, ePRO and eConsent in Core; stratified/blinded randomisation and drug supply in Full Platform. |
| Audit trail and e-signatures | Ask for a sample audit trail export. | Field-level audit trail with user, time, old and new value and reason; OTP-verified e-signatures. |
| Data standards | Ask about SDTM and Define-XML export. | CSV/Excel with data dictionary; SDTM as SAS XPT with Define-XML. |
| Hosting | Ask about regions and data residency. | EU (Frankfurt) or US (N. Virginia). |
| Exit | Ask for export format and any exit fee. | CSV/Excel and audit trail exports; confirm exit terms in your contract. |
Upload your protocol to the Capture sandbox and compare the build against a Dacima demo. No credit card, no sales call.
Fair view
Do not switch EDC systems for the sake of it. Moving mid-study is a project with its own risk; see how to switch EDC vendors mid-study. Staying is the right choice when:
A study running well on a validated build rarely benefits from a mid-flight migration. Plan the switch for the next study.
A Canadian vendor with support in your time zone, or a procurement rule that favours domestic suppliers, is a legitimate reason. Capture is not a Canadian vendor; its hosting regions are EU and US.
If DACIMA provides build or data management services you rely on, and you have no in-house team to replace them, see self-serve vs full-service EDC before assuming a self-serve system is cheaper.
Who should look
Look at a self-serve platform when your next study needs a faster first build, when you want published pricing to benchmark quotes, when your team wants to make protocol amendments itself, or when you want EDC, eConsent and ePRO in one system with one audit trail. A free sandbox lets you test those claims on your own protocol in an afternoon instead of arguing about them in a meeting.
Rebuilding forms is the slow part of any switch. Capture's AI drafts visits and forms from an uploaded protocol, reads a form description or a CSV, XLSX, PDF or DOCX, and drafts a lab table from a source file. Nothing is saved until a person approves it. The standard eCRF templates cover demographics, vitals, ECG, medical history, adverse events, concomitant medications and labs. Pricing details are on the pricing page, and a 500-patient example is worked in the cost worksheet.

A reviewer on a public directory describes it that way. Ask the vendor for their documentation and a validation package, as you would for any EDC.

Yes. Capture is suitable for Phase 1 to 3.
Usually not. Switching mid-study carries risk. Start the next study on the new system, and read the guide on switching EDC vendors mid-study if you must move.
