Enter dates, partial dates and fix date warnings

Type the day, choose the month and type the year, or use the calendar. Where allowed, choose UN for an unknown day and UNK for an unknown month. Date errors (such as an end date before the start date) block saving; date warnings ask you to confirm the date or add a comment.

Enter a date

Dates are entered as day, month (JAN to DEC) and year, or picked from the calendar. If the form allows partial dates, choose UN for an unknown day and UNK for an unknown month; the calendar is not available for partial dates.

Date errors (they block saving)

  • "Stop date cannot be before start date." and similar for end, resolution, discharge and removal dates.
  • "Onset date cannot be in the future." and similar for other event dates.
  • "... is not a valid calendar date."

Correct the date and save again. On submit, a date in the future is refused with "Date cannot be in the future".

Date warnings (confirm once)

Some dates look unusual but can be right, for example the date the investigator became aware before the onset date, or a date more than a year before consent. Please check these dates opens: tick I confirm these dates are correct or write a comment, then click Continue saving. The confirmation is saved as a note on the field.
