Where to find it

CTMS > Trial overview

Before you start

  • The CTMS module is switched on for the study (switch modules on or off).
  • Your role is Study Owner, Study Manager, Trial Manager, Administrator, Sponsor or Medical Monitor.

Read the overview

  1. Open CTMS > Trial overview.

"As of" shows when the numbers were calculated. Click Refresh to reload them.

  2. Read the tiles: Milestones, Site readiness, Enrollment, Monitoring and Quality.

Each tile counts what is done and what is late, for example planned milestone dates that passed without an actual date.

  3. Click a tile to open that page.

  4. In Needs attention, click Only high to see the most urgent items, or Show all.

Items are sorted high priority first, then oldest first. Click a row to open the record.

  5. Use the Sites table to compare sites: state, readiness, enrollment, late milestones, last monitoring visit, action items and open deviations.

  6. Check Next 30 days for planned milestone dates and legal deadlines coming up.

If you cannot see it

  • No CTMS menu: a study manager has not switched on the CTMS module yet.
  • "No access to the trial overview": the page is for the study management and sponsor team. CRAs, data managers and site staff use Milestones, Site readiness and Enrollment instead.
  • "No sites in this study yet": add sites first (add and activate sites).

Questions

Does Trial overview change any data?

No. It only reads milestones, site readiness, enrollment, monitoring and quality records and shows what needs attention.

What is a clinical trial management system (CTMS)?

A CTMS tracks the operational side of a trial: milestones, sites, enrollment and monitoring. In Capture it sits next to the EDC, so the numbers come from the same study. Read more in our CTMS glossary entry.
