Verify data against source (SDV)

Monitors verify data in two ways: tick fields on a submitted form and click Submit verification, or verify whole forms from the Casebook visit panel's SDV tab. Changing a verified value later removes its verification automatically.

Before you start

  • Your role can verify data: CRA or Trial Manager. Participant questionnaires (ePRO) are reviewed, not verified (review ePRO answers).

Verify fields on a form

  1. Open the submitted form from the Casebook.

  2. Click the hollow circle next to each field you checked against the source.

It turns into a pale green tick: staged, but not saved yet. Use Verify all below the last question to stage every field.

  3. Check the summary line: how many fields will be verified or unverified.

  4. Click Submit verification.

You see "Verification submitted". Each tick shows who verified it and when, and it is kept in the form's edit history.

Verify whole forms from the Casebook

  1. In the Casebook, click the visit cell and open the SDV tab.

It shows how many forms are verified and how many are waiting.

  2. Expand a form to preview its answers.

  3. Click Verify on a form, or tick several and click Verify Selected.

The dashboard card Data requiring verification, the Outstanding SDV report and the SDV status by site table count verified forms. If a form is edited after verification, it goes back to pending.

Choose which fields need SDV (risk-based)

  1. Open Forms, open the form and find the Source data verification card.

By default every field needs SDV.

  2. Switch fields on or off, or use Mark all SDV / Clear all SDV.

  3. Click Save SDV settings, give a reason and click Save.

Fields that do not need SDV show no verification marker. Calculated fields never need SDV. Read more about source data verification and risk-based monitoring.

Questions

Can I verify a frozen or locked field?

No. Frozen and locked fields are skipped. Verify data before it is frozen or locked.
