Show or hide questions with conditions (skip logic)
In the question dialog, switch on Skip Logic, choose Show when or Hide when, pick an earlier question, an operator and a value, and save. To show or hide a whole section, add a display condition to the section.
Where to find it
Form editor > question > Skip Logic
Before you start
- The form is a draft. Approved forms are changed through a new version.
Add a condition to a question
Open the question (or add a new one) and switch on Skip Logic.
Inside a section it is called Intra-Row Logic.
Under Action, choose Show when or Hide when.
Pick the question it depends on. Only earlier questions can be chosen.
Pick an Operator: equals, is one of, not equals, greater than, less than, includes, is empty or is not empty.
Pick the Value from the other question's options, or type a custom value.
Check the summary and click Save Changes.
The question shows a Conditional badge and a line such as "Shows when Q2 equals Yes".
Show or hide a whole section
On a draft, edit the section and click Add Display Condition: choose the question, the comparison and the value, then Save Changes. On CRF repeating sections and tables you can also click When to show on the section in the form view, pick Always or a condition, give a reason and click Save rule. That rule does not create a new form version.
Questions
Can I see all the logic on a form at once?
Yes. Open the form and switch on Show rules: each question shows its conditions, and the summary line counts conditional logic, automatic query rules and limits.
