Dispense kits to a participant
Open the participant, click Dispense IMP on the IMP Dispensing card, scan or type the kit numbers, tick the quality checks, enter your password and click Sign & Dispense.
Where to find it
Participant page > IMP Dispensing > Dispense IMP
Before you start
- The Inventory & IMP Management module is switched on (switch modules on or off).
- The participant is randomized, and your site has received the kits.
- Your role can dispense: Principal Investigator, Sub-Investigator or Pharmacist.
Dispense the kits
Open the participant from the Casebook.
On the IMP Dispensing card, click Dispense IMP, or click Dispense next to the visit under Next dispensing visits.
In Scan or type kit number(s), enter the kits you are handing over.
Tick each check: storage conditions, packaging and seal, labels, expiry date, and batch/lot.
If a check fails, click Flag an issue and do not dispense that kit.
Confirm the visit the dispensing belongs to, or choose additional dispensing.
Enter your password and click Sign & Dispense.
You see "kits dispensed and e-signed" and the kits move to With patient.
Pharmacy staff can also work from Inventory > Dispensing > Work Queue > Verify & Dispense, and export the Dispensing Log as a CSV.
Common messages
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Subject must be randomized before IMP can be dispensed." | Randomize the participant first. |
| "No usable kits at this site" | Check, in order: the kit list is loaded, a shipment was sent, your site received it, and quarantined kits were released. |
| "N kit(s) are EXPIRED - dispensing blocked." | Use another kit and mark the expired one unusable. |
| "Invalid password. Please try again." | Re-enter your sign-in password. Several wrong attempts pause signing for a while (electronic signatures). |
