Find your way around Capture

Everything in Capture happens inside a study. Pick the study with the study switcher at the top left, use the left-hand menu to move between Dashboard, Casebook, Schedule, Forms, Reports and Settings, and use the bells at the top for tasks, safety alerts and queries.

Choose your study

After you sign in, Capture opens the study you used last. If you work on several studies, click the study name at the top left and pick another one. Archived studies are hidden until you click Show archived.

The left-hand menu

Menu itemWhat it is for
DashboardStudy health, safety, site risk, enrollment and missing surveys at a glance (read the dashboard).
CasebookEvery participant against every visit. Open a participant here to enter data (add a participant).
ScheduleThe visit schedule and which forms are due at each visit (set up visits).
FormsThe eCRF, questionnaire and consent form builder (create a form). Not shown to site staff and CRAs.
ReportsResponses, Status overview, ePRO compliance, Safety flags, Data review and Data & Exports.
Inventory, App codes, CTMSOptional modules. They appear only when a study manager switches them on.

What you see depends on your role. Site staff, CRAs and data managers open the study on the Casebook; most other roles open on the Dashboard. See what each study role can do.

The bar at the top

  • Tasks or Action Items bell: your open tasks and mentions (team tasks).
  • Safety bell: new safety alerts, such as serious adverse events.
  • Query bell: queries waiting for you (answer a query).
  • Your name: Account Settings, Sponsors & MedDRA, Training Records, Documentation (SOPs) and Sign Out. It also shows your role and whether you can see participants' personal details.

Questions

Why is a menu item missing for me?

Menus follow your role and the study's modules. For example, Forms is hidden for site staff and CRAs, and CTMS appears only when the module is switched on. Ask your study manager if you need access.

Why was I signed out?

For security, Capture signs you out after 30 minutes without activity, with a warning five minutes before. See why you were signed out.
